Mary Lewis

Acoma Pueblo

Born in Acoma Pueblo in 1923, Mary Lewis was a daughter of Lucy Lewis, one of the Four Matriarchs in the Acoma potter families. Like her brothers Ivan and Drew, and sisters Emma, Dolores and Carmel, Mary grew up watching their mother making pottery the traditional way.

Mary passed on in 2015.
