Vidal Corona

Mata Ortiz

Vidal Corona is a potter working in the village of Mata Ortiz. He appears to have a fascination with birds as he seems to prefer creating parrot effigy jars more than anything else. He also makes lidded jars and decorates them with lightly carved, sgraffito and painted birds, flowers and geometric designs.

Vidal's sister Angela credits him with teaching her how to make pottery. She also often makes "bird effigies," but they are noticeably different from Vidal's.
