Betty and Lee Tafoya

Santa Clara Pueblo

Lee Tafoya (1926-1996) was a son of Margaret Tafoya. He learned the traditional craft through watching his mother. Betty was an Anglo woman who Lee fell in love with. Once married, she moved to his home at Santa Clara and he taught her how to make pottery. Lee and Betty made pots together for many years. She is one of a very few Anglo women who learned how to make pottery the traditional Puebloan way.
