Marie Toya

The daughter of Casimiro and Mary E. Toya, Marie Toya is a member of the Jemez Water Clan born in 1956. Learning from her mother, she began producing pottery in 1972.

Anita and Judy Toya are her sisters. Among her aunts are potters Fannie Loretto, Alma Concha and Lupe Lucero.

Marie is primarily a maker of storytellers, because she loves making storytellers. In her words: "It makes me think of what to give each child and what the grandfather or grandmother is singing to them."
