Louise Suina (1939-1992) was a cousin of Helen Cordero and Seferina Ortiz. Like many of the women in that large family, she specialized in nativities and figurines, usually small and well-formed. Louise taught her daughter Mary Evangeline "Vangie" Suina the traditional pottery making techniques she had learned as a young girl and Vangie is making a name for herself with her storytellers. Louise also taught her daughter-in-law Dena the traditional ways and she, too, has made a name for herself with her finely made storytellers.
