Mark Wayne Garcia is a traditional potter from Santo Domingo Pueblo. He's been producing pottery since the 1990s, mostly working in dough bowls, canteen and black-on-red jars. He also works a lot with micaceous clays.
Mark was an exhibitor at the Eight Northern Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show at Ohkay Owingeh for years but he didn't get much attention until he went into golden micaceous jars decorated with black traditional Santo Domingo designs. He also sometimes paints Mimbres-derived designs on his pieces. Now he can't make enough of them.
