Helen Gutierrez was born into San Ildefonso Pueblo in March, 1930. She passed away in 1993. Helen was the sister of the famous painter Gilbert Atencio.
Helen learned to make pottery by watching and working with her mother, Isabel Atencio, as she grew up.
